What Are The Main Cyber Crime Laws in Pakistan in 2026?

In 2026, cyber crime in Pakistan has increased a lot. Everyone uses Facebook, WhatsApp, and Easypaisa, so cyber crime laws are very important to know.

The main law for cyber crime in Pakistan is PECA – Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016. This law was updated in 2025 to make it more strict.

1. Hacking and Unauthorized Access (Section 3 & 4)
If someone hacks your Facebook, Instagram, or bank account without permission, he can get up to 3 years in jail and a fine of up to 1 million rupees.

2. Cyber Stalking and Harassment (Section 24)
Sending bad messages, threatening someone online, or sharing someone’s private pictures without permission. Punishment is up to 5 years jail and 10 million fine.

3. Fake News and Defamation Online (Section 20)
If someone spreads fake news about you on social media to damage your reputation, you can file a complaint to FIA.

4. Online Fraud and Electronic Forgery (Section 14 & 16)
Making fake Easypaisa screenshots, online banking fraud, or fake online shopping stores comes under this law.

5. How to File a Complaint?
You don’t need to go to a police station. Just go to FIA Cyber Crime Reporting website – http://complaint.fia.gov.pk. You can submit your complaint online with screenshots as proof.

Final Advice: Never share your OTP, CNIC picture, or bank details with anyone. If someone blackmails you online, save the chat as evidence and report to FIA immediately.
