Frequently Asked Questions

What does "point to point fixation" mean?

It means your basic pay is fixed in the new Basic Pay Scales-2026 at the stage corresponding to the stage you occupied above the minimum of Basic Pay Scales-2022 — not simply the old figure plus a flat percentage.

When does the Basic Pay Scales-2026 take effect?

From 1 July 2026, as notified in Notification No.FD.SR-V.2-1/2026 dated 22 July 2026 by the Punjab Finance Department.

Is the 7% Adhoc Relief Allowance-2026 taxable?

Yes. The notification specifically states the Adhoc Relief Allowance-2026 is subject to income tax.

Can I stay in the old Basic Pay Scales-2022 instead of moving to BPS-2026?

Existing civil servants (BS-1 to 22) must exercise an irrevocable written option within 30 days of the notification to either continue in BPS-2022 or move to BPS-2026. If no option is communicated within that time, the employee is deemed to have opted for BPS-2026.

Does the pension increase apply to everyone?

The 3.5% pension increase applies to existing civil pensioners of the Punjab Government as of 30 June 2026. It is not admissible to those who retire on or after 1 July 2026.
